Man pleads not guilty to stabbing woman

A 26-year-old man of Motswakgonye Ward in Digawana has pleaded not guilty to a single count of unlawful wounding.

Innocent Kehupetse is accused of unlawfully wounding Amantle Pusoeng by stabbing her with a sharp object on the chest several times on September 22 at Taukobong Ward in Kanye.

Kanye Magistrate Court heard that the complainant sustained some wounds and was admitted at the hospital.

The prosecutor, Mr Mabutho Mabutho told the court that they were not opposed to bail being granted because the victim had since recovered and discharged from hospital.

They also served the accused with witness statements to prepare for trial.

Magistrate Bame Ngaka advised Kehupetse to study the witness statements thoroughly and prepare for the next mention.

He also granted Kehupetse bail on condition that he attended all court sessions and did not commit any crime or interfere with state witnesses.

The matter is scheduled for a case management conference on November 3. ENDS
