Police investigate murder case

Police in Tutume are appealing to the public to assist with information which could lead to the arrest of a murder suspect following the death of a 27-year-old woman of Ipungu ward in Nkange, who was found lying in a pool of blood at her house covered in blankets.

In an interview with BOPA, Tutume Police Station commander Superintendent Jerry Halahala said despite numerous appeals to the community to desist from harbouring illegal immigrants, people continued to overlook their advice by employing illegal immigrants.

Superintendent Halahala explained that they had received a report from the deceased's neighbours that they found a woman lying in a pool of blood in her house.

On arrival, the police took the deceased to Tutume Primary Hospital, where she was certified dead, adding that the deceased was found with serious wounds on the head and police suspect that a sharp object was used in the commission of murder.

The suspect, who is believed to be a Zimbabwean, is alleged to have been the woman’s boyfriend and has disappeared.

The body is lying at Tutume hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

Superintendent Halahala therefore noted that in order to reinforce the law, all those found to be harbouring illegal immigrants would face the wrath of the law. Ends
