VP appreciates assistance

The Vice President (VP), Mr Slumber Tsogwane, has implored the business community to help disadvantaged members of society in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

When receiving donations from Boitumelo Foundation earlier today, Mr Tsogwane said any form of assistance was a commendable gesture.

The foundation, which was founded by Mr Ramachandran Ottappathu in 2016, handed over blankets worth over P150 000 to Botswana Prisons Service and medical masks valued at P400 000, which will go to the COVID-19 Relief Fund.

"The generous donations show your love for fellow citizens. You are ploughing back to the communities," said Mr Tsogwane.

He said the donations would be handed to rightful beneficiaries and be put to good use, noting that Botswana was not yet out of the woods and urged others to come on board and assist in the fight against the pandemic.

For her part, the foundation's executive member, Ms Matshidiso Masire, said since its inception, the organisation had been donating across the country primarily on health and education.

She said they had also donated sanitary pads and food hampers to different communities, adding that as a civic society partner, it was their role to support government in any way. Ends
