Majombolo players receive food hampers

Nico United Football Club benefitted from the 135 food hampers donated by A1 Group of Companies to benefit families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Of the 135 food hampers donated to Selebi Phikwe Town Council, 10 were bequeathed to Nico United players.

In an interview on May 15, Majombolo public relation officer, Ntibi Kedikilwe said the donations would help their players who even before the coronavirus outbreak suffered a serious blow due to closure of BCL mine.

He said though the club was financially constrained, they had been providing for the 25 players through gate takings and donations from supporters prior to suspension of football activities to mitigate risk of COVID-19 infections.

The team’s spokesperson said due to the suspension of football activities, the club was struggling to pay players’ living allowances thus pleading with the business community to extend their helping hand to their players.

Majombolo is currently perched on second spot of the Debswana First Division North log with 37 points. The log leaders, Sua Flamingoes also have 37 points. ENDS
