Politics should not infiltrate movement

Ghanzi Sports Volunteers Movement (SVM) members have been urged not to allow politics to infiltrate their movement as it had the potential to breed factions in the movement.

Headman of arbitration in Ghanzi, Esau Molehele said this during the volunteers’ movement sub-region elective meeting and empowerment workshop over the weekend. He said the factions would attract sabotage, thereby impeding the movement to achieve its full capacity.

He emphasised that sport voluntarism and politics were not a good combination. Molehele further noted that without sport volunteerism, sport development would be a mirage as volunteerism elevated sport further.

He said volunteerism did not only benefit sport, but that individual volunteers would also enjoy sport dividends.

Director of Thiite Rubble Screeners, Johane Thiite also viewed sport volunteerism as the mainstay of any sport development.

Benefits of sport, he said, included shaping individual behaviour and promoting good health, particularly that the nation was burdened by lifestyle diseases.

Thiite also pledged to donate 100 t-shirts to Ghanzi SVM sub-region.

Earlier on, SVM national executive committee member, Boshoma Mfetane said SVM was doing invaluable duty in sport development.

Mfetane, who enlightened members on the SVM strategy, also implored members to display professionalism and integrity while another SVM NEC member, Kgotlaetsile Moube made a presentation on SVM policy.

Former Ghanzi SVM sub-region vice-chairperson, Johannes Tait was elevated to a chairperson’s position while Action Sakoi assumed the vice-chairpersons’ position.

Christinah Gaehole retained the secretary’s position, public relations position was assumed by Bonang Mokgwatlheng and treasurer post was taken by Justice Modirapula while Boitumelo Mothibi and Edwin Njara were elected additional members.

In his address, Tait challenged his counterparts to work as a team to accomplish their mission. ends
