Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Dr Unity Dow is in Lusaka, Zambia to attend the 20th SADC ministerial committee of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation meeting scheduled for July 18-20.

A press release from the ministry states that the meeting will discuss defense and security issues of regional importance.

It will examine the state of implementation of decisions of the last meeting held in Luanda, Angola last July and review the political and security situation of the SADC region, says the release.

The Botswana delegation to the meeting includes Minister of Defense and Security, Mr Shaw Kgathi and Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Mr Ngaka Ngaka as well as senior government officials.

The release says from Lusaka, Minister Dow will proceed to Nairobi, Kenya to participate in the 5th session of the Botswana/Kenya Joint Commission on Cooperation (JPCC) scheduled for July 22.

The commission will take stock on the state of implementation of the commitments made by the two countries, as well as deliberate on how to further  enhance collaboration for mutual benefit.

It says discussions will therefore focus on critical sectors such as trade and investment, agriculture, transport, education, health, defence and security.
