Mine to construct ramps, toilet around school

Debswana Mine employees have donated P11 000 to Motsumi Junior Secondary School in Letlhakane to assist government ensure the inclusion of students living with disabilities.

The mine’s operational readiness manager, Mr Tefo Tefo said on July 10 during the handing over ceremony that the aim was to make the school environment and facilities inclusive and accessible to such students.

Mr Tefo said an inclusive educational environment and facilities built the school’s capacity to educate all learners effectively.

He said Debswana employees under Fines Residue Disposal Project raised money to assist a Form One student with a motorised wheel chair.

Mr Tefo said the aim was also to build ramps around the school and construct a toilet for students living with disability.

Motsumi School head, Ms Janet Mmusinyane commended Debswana employees for the support, saying they had fulfilled their commitment to partner in fund raising and that the support would go a long in the drive to build a child friendly school.

She said effective models of inclusive education would not only benefit students living with disabilities, but create an environment in which all the students could flourish. ENDS
