Royal Moscow Ballet mesmerises audience

A thunderous applause filled the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) on Wednesday evening as the curtain call came down on the Royal Moscow Ballet (RMB) and it was evident that the audience was still savouring a great moment that they had just witnessed on stage having been temporarily transported to a place of romance beyond imagination.

Founded by principal dancer and choreographer, Anatoly Emelianov and creative director, Anna Alexidze in 2002, the Royal Moscow Ballet has done more than 1 000 performances around the globe and for close to three hours, the esteemed  RMB took the audience on a magical journey that was nothing short of amazing.

RMB has over the few years proven to be one of the hottest lifestyle events that brings together class and passion for dance.

Students from Risa Ballet in Botswana, one of the best ballet school in the country having been teaching ballet for about 40 years in the country, were the opening act and it a sight to behold and words do not do justice to the talent and poise that was on display.OP Advertising once again brought the event to ballet lovers in partnership with Edouard Miasnikov Agencies.

OP Advertising general manager, Francis Gleeson said Capital Bank Botswana was the main sponsor of the Royal Moscow Ballet 2018.

Gleeson said he was confident that this year’s event would be a sold-out like the previous RMB’s they had hosted.

Performing acts included pieces in tribute to the Great Russian composer, Piotr Tchaikovsky.

The one act ballet was dubbed Serenade followed by Black Pas de Deux from the ballet Swan Lake by Fraceska da Rimini, which was choreographed by Anatoly Emelianov.

Capital Bank CEO Jaco Viljoen said they were proud to be sponsors of the event as it had the ability to bring together a variety of stakeholders from the business and social communities, which helped in giving the city of Gaborone the spotlight it deserved.

“We recognise the significant appeal that this event holds for our customers and the public and as such it is an honor to be part of this great event,” he said.

“We are proud of our association with the Royal Moscow Ballet as we recognise the significant appeal it holds for our customers and the wider Botswana public.
