‘Do good to others’

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has advised Batswana to do good to one another as that would help the country go far.   

President Khama,who was overwhelmed by messages of gratitude and well wishes from the public during a farewell meeting in Letlhakeng on March 8, said Batswana had commended him for all the good deeds he had done.  

 In cognisant of this fact, he challenged Letlhakeng/Lephepe constituents to follow suit in his footsteps and do good to others.

He said Batswana were known for their hospitable and charitable nature hence it was important for them to tap into these qualities and extend a helping hand to others.

The President explained that having compassion for others came naturally for him because it was something he was taught by his parents when growing up.

He further stated that the programmes and initiatives he came up with during his administration were purely meant to benefit the citizens.

Kgosi Itsoseng Gaoonwe of Letlhakeng said the President had demonstrated a lot of love for the nation.

He said this was demonstrated by the President when he traversed the length and breadth of the country having heart to heart conversations with ordinary citizens in their homesteads.

This again was demonstrated by his Presidential Housing Appeal initiative intended to clothe the less fortunate with dignity by constructing decent houses for them.

 He further said Letlhakeng also benefitted from Economic Stimulus Programme explaining that classrooms and staff houses as well as street lighting were constructed under ESP.

Kgosi Gaoonwe commended President Khama for setting an example of good leadership not only in the country but to the international community as well.

Representative for the elderly, Ms Kgomotso Kootshole similarly commended President Khama for initiatives such as the ISPAAD .

Residents gave President Khama among others 10 cattle, 24 goats, 8 sheep, 91 chickens and some P40 356. ENDS
