Mascom sponsors Miss Millenium

Mascom has donated P50 000 to Miss Millenniun 2018 pageant that will be held at the Millenium Bar and Restaurant in Mogoditshane.

What started off as a simple gathering of jazz enthusiasts has over the last nine years grown to become a fully-fledged beauty pageant that not only benefits communities but also creates women of substance who are committed to serving the nation

Speaking at a press briefing on March 5, chief communication and public relations officer at Mascom, Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego said she was thankful to be part of the Miss Millenium pageant and hoped they would continue working with them.

Lebotse-Sebego said the empowerment of women was a necessity for the development of society since it enhanced both the quality and quantity of human resources available for development.

She applauded the organisers and the past Miss Millennium beauty participants for coming up with credible goals to empowerment and participation as a necessary step.

She said it would  help the  country to overcome obstacles associated with poverty and development.

Lebotse-Sebego noted that they were willing to support the queen after crowning as a way to empower and support women in the country.

For her part, Zenzele Hirschfeld, the event producer and Miss Millenium pageant organiser, said the pageant was a celebration of mature women over 40 years and recognition of their role in the community.

She said she was honoured and grateful for the sponsorship they had received from Mascom and encouraged people to come and see growth and beauty that came with Mascom.

Hirschfield said the 10th annual Miss Millennium beauty pageant would be held on March 23, and that organisers were confident that it would attract large numbers as always.

Hirschfield said Miss Millennium has over the years managed to establish itself as an extra ordinary pageant that focused less on physical beauty and more on spiritual beauty.

“This pageant is more focused on the woman within, her substance. We are not necessarily focused on facial looks or a particular body structure, but rather what the woman has to offer towards building a stronger community and making the world a better place,” she said.

She emphasised that this year they would have two parades which would include sexy funk with Mascom colours and normal parade where Tebogo Mathiba’s song Mosadi thari ya Setshaba will be used.

She further said people should come in large numbers to see elegance and class, and that local jazz artistes would embrace the show.

Miss Millennium is a community building beauty pageant established in 2008 by Millennium Jazz patrons.

Millennium Jazz Restaurant has been and still is home to this renowned social responsibility event.

The previous and the current Miss Millennium beauty queens have made a difference around Mogoditshane and neighbouring residents’ lives. ENDS
