Kgalagadi needs sports facilities

Kgalagadi South who is also local government assistant minister, Frans Van der Westhuizen said there is need for a sports facility in the area.

He said these words when giving vote of thanks over the weekend where President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama attended polka festival music.

The MP pointed out that his constituency has a serious challenge because the youth in the area do not have leisure activities that can keep them away from social ills.

He noted that though he knows that there is lack of resources, it was important that government consider prioritising the construction of a sports facility, adding that the area is lagging behind in terms of such facilities.

The assistant minister went on to say that the facility will also help the local first division outfit; Black Rangers because it has been on that league for some time, but their progress is hindered by lack of resources.

MP Van der Westhuizen said for the area to develop and be at par with other districts, such facilities are a necessity for the district to cater for other sports codes and teams in the constituency.

Earlier on, the area MP said Kgalagadi South constituents, especially from the NAMA community thank the President for reviving the polka genre and said they hope the President will continue attending the festivals.

He pointed out that his contribution to the spread and enjoyment of polka music is immeasurable, adding that he made sure that the music is now enjoyed around the country.

MP Van der Westhuizen said that the revival of polka was not only for enjoyment, but also for nation building. ENDS
