Molale not aware of invitation to bench

Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Eric Molale says he is not aware of any invitation to the bench of candidates whose recommendations were rejected by President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama.

Mr Molale said in view of the Court of Appeal decision in the Omphemetse Motumise matter, the issue regarding their appointment should be a matter for consideration by the Judicial Service Commission.

Member of Parliament for Gabane-Mmankgodi, Major General Pius Mokgware had asked the minister if it was true that two of the candidates for the positions of judge of the High Court who were previously recommended for appointment by the Judicial Service Commission, and rejected by the president could now come forth to be appointed, and if so, when they had been appointed.

Still in Parliament, Minister Molale said whilst he was aware that Poverty Eradication Programme beneficiaries at the Mahalapye grey water project did not have facilities like ablution blocks, access roads and potable water pipes, his ministry had provided two portable toilets and potable drinking water using two 10 000 litres Jojo tanks.

He explained that accessibility to the project was through a gravel road which was in god condition.

Mr Molale added that the perimeter electrical fence would be considered in future when funds were available.

However, he noted that security guards had been employed since October 2017 to deter intruders at the project.

The minister stated further that the ministry did not have any plans to construct temporary accommodation structures at the project site, as the beneficiaries were transported from home to work and then back.

Mahalapye West MP, Mr Joseph Molefe had wanted to know if the minister was aware that Poverty Eradication Programme beneficiaries utilising the grey water project at Mahalapye did not have facilities like ablution blocks, access roads and potable water pipes.

He wanted the minister to state when ablution blocks, potable drinking water taps, access roads, perimeter electrical fence and temporary accommodation structures would be constructed at the project administration area. ENDS
