Local producer in cue for across border recognition

Palapye based producer Gokatweng Rakhudu of Shingomara recording Studio has been nominated for Coronal African Zion Achievement Award (CAZAA) in South Africa.

The awards, billed for Soweto, South Africa on May 5, 2018 are aimed at encouraging, recognising, developing and promoting excellent work in the Zion music industry in Africa.

The awards are organised by Zion Choral Newz, an organization made up of different Zion churches with the aim to promote Zion Christian music.

Mahlathini as he is affectionately called in the music industry was nominated after producing several successful albums for Zion artistes, in particular, Bethlehem and Skhokhelitumu based in Serowe.

For Rakhudu, this award came as a big surprise because it is rare to see producers being nominated for awards.

The Kalamare -born producer is thrilled for that recognition having produced successful albums not only in the Zion industry, but in different music genres.

“This is the first time to be nominated for an award. I take this as a motivation to go an extra mile to promote and improve music in our country,” he said.

Rakhudu is not only an icon in the Zion music industry, but is also well known across the local music industry having produced successful albums and singles for various artistes locally and regionally notably DJ King of Go siame fame, South Africa- based Bye4, Khoza, Black eye and Masa based in Lesotho.

In his music career, the renowned producer also got the opportunity to work with the likes of Bullet Ketshabile who is one of the revered producers in the local music industry.

Bullet defined a sound for respectable local artistes and helped produce stars in the likes of Gongmaster, Ditiro Leero, Maxy and many others.

He attributed his success to Bullet Ketshabile whom he refers to as his role model.

Rakhudu who started his recording studio after digging his hands deeper into his pocket, intends expanding his studio by purchasing more equipment.

He is in the process of organising a sponsored walk to raise funds to purchase the equipment to run a fully-fledged recording studio.

He is also appealing for support to achieve his plans to promote local music. Ends
