Modipane United champs

Debswana First Division South League team, Modipane United are the Kgatleng Annual Festive Spectacular champions after beating Mochudi Eastern Tigers by a slim margin of 2-1 in a game played in Mochudi on December 26.
Eastern Tigers, which won the tournament last year, were the first to draw blood after they were awarded a penalty on the 57th minute through Thato Tsele.

Just five minutes after the well taken penality, United were awarded a free kick in a very favourable position and their free kick specialist, Bongane Modise converted it to make it one all draw.
The draw seemed to have motivated both sides as they started to attack each other looking for another goal.

However, United, which were making their maiden appearance in the tournament, enjoyed ball possession, even though they failed to convert some golden scoring opportunities.
United’s no retreat, no surrender attitude paid dividends on the 68th minute.
They were awarded yet another free kick and Modise once again rose to the occasion and  scored a scorcher to put his side on the lead.

The game became physical from both sides and on the 74th minutes, United player, Wame Kgosing and Eastern Tigers Kabo Ntwaagae were sent for an early shower.
United coach, James Tshekedi said he was happy that his players came from behind to claim victory against Easten Tigers.

“But I would like to congratulate the players, because they executed the game as per my instructions. Our game plan was not to play high balls and  to enjoy the game, that’s excactly what they did,” he said.
Eastern Tigers coach, Thato Phiri said his team committed a lot of mistakes, hence they were punished during the game.

“After scoring the penalty, there was a serious concentration lapse and in the second half, we carried balls too high and that’s what cost us the championship,” he said.  In the ladies’ category UMLILO Soccer Academy were crowned 2017 KAFS ladies Champions after beating Blackburn Ladies 1-0. ENDS
