Puma launches e -aviation system

Permanent Secretary to the President says the new e-aviation system launched by Puma Energy is set to ‘significantly’ improve fuelling experience as it reduces manual processes, increasing productivity and mitigate risk while enhancing the relationship with customers.

Officially launching Puma Energy’s e-Aviation system, Mr Carter Morupisi said the state of the art fuelling system positions Botswana as one of the key players in aviation field globally.

“I am reliably informed that this system brings in the next level of technological innovations that enable automated and secure processes and provides real time, 360 degree view of the business operations and the customer journey,” he said.

Mr Morupisi said this was an attractive and valuable proposition and would aid in efficiency and growth of all sectors connected to aviation.

He noted that Botswana aspired to be a business and innovation hub and most undoubtedly a destination of choice for investors.

He said what was pleasing was that Botswana was one of the first two countries in the African continent to adopt this system and this reaffirmed the country’s commitment to embracing new and more efficient systems that would enhance productivity.

Mr Morupisi said it went without saying that transport and energy sectors were an integral part of the industrial development of every country.

“Air transport, as we are all aware, is an increasingly essential component of the global society. It is also a crucial driver of economic, social and cultural development worldwide and will continue to be so vital in many more years to come,” he said.

He further said that it brought ‘great’ confidence and comfort to learn that Puma Energy was taking great strides to assist in accurate and efficient aviation fuel and data management, significantly improving the customer journey for both local and international customers.

“This seals your efforts to continue to prove that with sound vision, continuous collaborative efforts, and with domestic talents, skills and capabilities, we will be able to bring about great achievements in the aviation sector of our country,” said Mr Morupisi.

Mr Morupisi further said he was overjoyed to hear that Air Botswana, Debswana, Botswana Defence Force and Botswana Police Service were great users of the new system and find it more convenient than what was previously used.

He said Botswana was committed through the vision to promote the use of science, technology and innovation in the social, economic and business spheres in order to enhance the benefits of efficiency.

Mr Morupisi said government would therefore continue to provide the necessary support to realise a conducive environment to allow the success of such technological innovations being undertaken.

He said he was certain that this development would address Botswana’s future needs in a new collaborative way, benefitting the country from a socio-economic perspective in line with the Vision 2036 pillars geared towards achieving prosperity for all.

Mr Mahube Mpungwa, general manager of Puma Energy Botswana said as the main supplier of aviation fuel in the country, Puma Energy was  aware of the immense responsibility bestowed on them to support the growth of the aviation sector and that the sector’s significance to the tourism industry was well known.

“Puma Energy has demonstrated its commitment over the years through our investment in the infrastructure that includes a P30million in storage facility at Maun International Airport and over P15million in refueling equipment at all the country’s airports,” he said.

He said Botswana was an important aviation market in the region due to its proximity to the major airline hub at OR Tambo International Airport.

Mr Mpungwa said the e-Aviation system allowed them to serve customers faster, better and more efficiently.

“This offering, we believe is an opportunity to make our customers’ fuelling experience with us seamless as possible. AvR eFuelling and AvR eMobile are our new innovations to the world of aviation digitization.

The perks of the AvR eFuelling is that the system is fully automated and instantly guarantees more accurate fuel tracking, recording, management and invoicing, hence increasing efficiency within the airline industry,” he said.

Mr Mpungwa expressed hope that their investment will in a meaningful way contribute towards economic growth and job creation especially in the aviation industry and tourism sector.
“In turn we also hope that our efforts will contribute to the success of our business partners to generate shareholder value sustainably,” he concluded. ENDS
