Monitoring of projects bears fruits

There has been a significant improvement of project implementation in the Boteti Sub-district due to close monitoring and supervision.

Deputy district commissioner in Boteti, Ms Sebokwana Dikgope-Mosweu said recently during the sub-district development committee meeting in Letlhakane that development projects implementation improved despite delays by some contractors, shortage of water and manpower especially bricklayers.

Transport, she said, together with lack of commitment by some beneficiaries for poverty eradication programme and non-repayment of youth programme loans, had also proved to be a challenge for most departments.

Ms Mosweu said the sub-district would continue encouraging the sub-district technical committee to intensify project management and improve timely delivery of projects.

The district leadership, she said, would continue intensifying counselling of clients and family on the importance of projects through joint kgotla meetings and site visits.

All heads of department, she said, had been urged to desist from operating in silos, but share transport and other resources.

Ms Mosweu said contractors that did not adhere to agreements were cautioned of being black listed in order to avoid cost over runs and delays in service delivery.

The sub-district, she said, was constructing 17 destitute houses, 10 of which were already complete while seven were at an advanced stage.

Ms Mosweu stated the sub-district was building 21 houses under the Remote Area Dwellers Programme housing, nine of which were already complete and the remaining at an advanced stage. ENDS
