YES graduates impress

Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES) graduates, who have been attached to some government departments in Shakawe, are doing well.

The principal technical assistant in the Department of Buildings and Electrical services (DBES), Mr Mathata Banyatsang said in an interview that YES graduates had enhanced service delivery since their arrival in August 2012.

He said most graduates were capable, well-disciplined and executed their responsibilities to the required work standards.

He expressed his gratitude towards governments’ decision to come up with the initiative in order to engage unemployed young people as a way of empowering them.

Mr Banyatsang noted that due to shortage of manpower in his department, the graduates had alleviated the situation.

“Currently we have three young people with us, the other one is an electrician by profession and most of their work includes general maintenance,” he explained.

He said due to the tough economic conditions being experienced in the country and high staff turnover, YES graduates enabled departments to effectively deliver.

The graduates were attached at Shakawe clinic and DBES. ENDS
