Royal Moscow stuns audience

Specialists of the ballet art, The Royal Moscow renowned stars, recently brought the ballet enthusiasts startled with their outstanding performance at a show dubbed Moscow Theatre, which was held at Gaborone International Convention Centre.

The group enticed the audience, with the sterling performance of the three staged performances and  masterpieces of Chopiniana, Carmen and Paquita.

While welcoming the audience, Minister of Education and Skills Development, Dr Unity Dow  said she knew that the art lovers believed in the beauty of art, its ability to interconnect people, and bringing the nations together.

“Art is a silent ambassador, it speaks to our heart and does not matter what culture, race and language is, as dance is an art which everybody could relate to,” she said.

She said the ballet performance should be considered as a gift to Botswana, just a few months ahead of the 50th anniversary of Independence.

She commended the group for having chosen Botswana among the many nations adding that the country was honoured.

On his part the producer of the Royal Moscow Ballet, Edoward Mianiskov also the honoured artist of Russia, said the ballet and dance was a form of art that was loved in all corners of the word.

“It knows neither regional frontiers nor language as people of different nationalities, culture, and region came together,” he said.

The first act, ‘Chopiniana’, enchanted the audience as the dancer, danced on her point to demonstrate her steel hard toe, which the dream of a romantic ballet, exhibiting the dream of a romantic ballet with its endearing poetry and sadness.

The second act, ‘Carmen’, is said to be based on slow jammed Bizet’s music, which complement the choreography. It stages the darkest settings of Merimee’s tragic story, a deeply symbolic and overly sensual impression.

Lastly, the third act, ‘Paquita’, displays a major cornerstone of the ballet performance.

The company consists of graduates of the best Russian choreography schools. Royal Moscow Ballet has toured successfully around the globe and African countries such as Tanzania, Zambia, South Africa and Kenya.

It had previously performed in Botswana in 2007. Since its establishment the company has staged more than 983 performances. ENDS
