Kabelo Seakanyeng is best

BDF XI winger, Kabelo Seakanyeng was crowned player of the tournament at the 2013/14 Mascom Top 8 awards ceremony in Gaborone on Thursday, March 27.

The youngster was chosen ahead of his club mate, Otlaantshekela Mooketsi and Township Rollers striker, Jerome Louis. His outstanding performances during the competition culminated with a man of the match award in the final when his team won the trophy.

BDF IX dazzled as they received the P1 million for winning the 2013/14 competition. The glittering ceremony held at Gaborone International Convention Centre was graced by sports dignitaries and luminaries.

Among them was Tebogo Sebego, the president of Botswana Football Association (BFA), who expressed excitement at the way the tournament had increased competition amongst players and teams.

He appreciated efforts put in by Mascom Wireless to develop football in Botswana, stating that he was hoping for renewal of the sponsorship as it had entered its final year.

The yellow boot award, given to a player who banged the most goals in the tournament, went to Louis who scored a total of five goals. Township Rollers goalkeeper, Mwampule Masule won the safe hands award.

Additionally, there was the award for coach of the tournament which went to Rollers coach, Madinda Ndlovu, who said he dedicated the award to all coaches.

Other winners: Keabetswe Dintwe (referee), Moletlanyi Keoagile (assistant referee), Isaac Pheko (print reporter), Oaitse Sejakgomo (photographer), Monnakgotla Mojaki (radio presenter), Fundi Gaoforwe (radio commentator), Aaron Radira (television presenter) and Nelson Ditibane (television commentator).
