VACANCY CIRCULAR NO. 2 OF 2021
PRINCIPAL LICENSING AND INSPECTIONS OFFICER I (1 POST)
SALARY SCALE: D2 (P 291, 108 – P 321, 012) per annum
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To monitor and provide guidance on the safe and secure use of Chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological materials to ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Monitor compliance of set standards procedures and guidelines by Chemical, Biological, Nuclear and Radiological (CBNR) industries and companies.
- Initiate development of standards, guidelines and procedures in provision of CBNR industries and companies’ licenses and permits.
- Coordinate registration of CBNR industries and companies.
- Coordinate renewal of CBNR industries and companies’ licences and permits.
- Monitor statutory requirements in accordance with the legislation, national and international standards.
- Approve and issue import and export permits for CBNR material.
- Assess and evaluate license application assessments and make recommendations.
- Monitor and review actions taken for non-compliance to the Act and Regulations by industries and companies.
- Monitor and maintain scheduled CBNR database.
- Facilitate collection, collation and dissemination of information on illegal Chemical, Biological, Nuclear and Radiological materials.
- Conduct research process to facilitate exchange of scientific and technical information and Chemical, Biological, Nuclear and Radiological materials.
- Undertake any other related duties as may be assigned by Management.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS PROFILE
To be considered for this position, candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Biology or Physics or Radiochemistry or Environmental Chemistry or any related qualification complimented with ten (10) years relevant post qualification experience, two (2) years of which should have been served at D3 salary scale level.

a) Leave of 30 working days per annum.
b) Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee 50%).
c) Contributory Pension Scheme (Government pays 15% and employee 5%).
