Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the above positions at the Office of the Auditor General.


SALARY: D2 (P274, 620– P302, 832) per annum.


LEAVE: 30 working days per annum.



1. Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% Employee 50%)

2. Contributory Pension (Government contributes 15% and employee contributes 5% of salary).



Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or equivalent. Professional qualification will be an added advantage (e.g BICA, ACCA, CA or equivalent).



At least ten (10) years of relevant work experience of which two (2) years should have been as a Principal Auditor II or equivalent.


Main purpose of the job:

To oversee the planning, execution and reporting of financial and compliance audits at Sectional level within public sector organizations.





1. Financial Auditing

Apply financial audit standards (ISSAIs) throughout the audit process in different environments.

Exercise professional judgment and scepticism while applying standards and determine materiality and review work done by others for quality assurance.

2. Compliance Auditing

Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the nature, purpose and objectives of compliance audit, regularity focus and propriety focus of compliance audits, determine materiality and assess the audit risk of not reporting material compliance, including instances indicative of unlawful acts, fraud, abuse or wastage.

3. Audit Deliverables and Reporting

Prepare and present audit reports to stakeholders at various reporting levels such as operational, strategic and legislative and effectively evaluate issues identified and generate appropriate findings, conclusions and recommendations in a report.

4. Leading Teams

Manage day to day organization of employees by planning and assigning work to achieve operational goals, manage, monitor and enhance performance of individuals.

5. Audit Approach and Methodology

Expert understanding of audit philosophy and methodology, recommend and approve changes to multi-engagement workflows to manage the operational risk of each engagement and evaluate the execution and appropriateness of the engagement approach and methodology.

6. Auditing Standards and Governing Requirements

Thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable governing requirements including laws, regulations, standards, frameworks and principles and criteria including changes and amendments of the same (e.g International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAIs etc)

7. Execution and Delivery

Manage execution and on time delivery by setting priorities and milestones, translating initiatives into plans and schedules and coordinating activities, monitor the demands on a process or operation and match resources to ensure business continuity.

Develop and implement monitoring, measurement and tracking processes and/ or systems.

8. Coaching and Developing

Provide on-going coaching, discussion, goal setting, demonstration, explanation, training and feedback to improve technical skills.

Guide employee development by helping them make the correct choices of which skills and competencies to develop.
